Pro-Teck Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the Proper Application Rate of Pro-Teck?
A. The recommended application for cleaning and maintaining irrigation
conveyance systems is .25 gallons of Pro-Teck solution per acre. Rates may
vary slightly depending on filtration, water source, volume, and degree of
current build-up.
Q. How do we test to see if Pro-Teck has reached the proper saturation
in our system?
The most accurate method of detecting if the system is completely
saturated to the recommended application rate is to use a copper test kit.
The injection of Pro-Teck may be stopped when 1 part per million of copper
saturation has been achieved. This may be determined by measuring the copper
in the water at the furthest point from origination. As always, our staff is
available to assist: 800/845-1357.
Q. How long should Pro-Teck stay injected in the system for initial
cleaning?
The recommended rates for cleaning and maintaining irrigation conveyance
should stay injected in the system for 36 hours. After 6 hours, flush the
system with water and reclaim clogged emitters and irrigate normally.
Q. How do I continue to maintain my irrigation conveyance system after
the initial use of Pro-Teck?
At the end of normal irrigation, refill the irrigation system with
Pro-Teck at the recommended application rates and the system will remain
clear and will perform normally at he next irrigation period. However,
should the system remain idle for longer than two (2) months, purge the
system and re-apply Pro-Teck at the recommended rates prior to use.
